I really miss my blogging and Facebooking session as I had no time to do those things much lately... Friends at school and contacts, and even the students are busy blogging and facebooking as well...that's a good sign. Even my mom knows Facebook, she asked my sis to upload pictures for me to have a look at..hmmm.. Thanks to the technology.. Nevertheless, I still have lots of things to learn when it comes to ICT. I will try my best not to be left far behind...

Syukur alhamdulillah atas nikmat yang Kau kurniakan...baru sahaja sehari diuji, nikmatmu yang amat tidak disangka menghampiri diri. Terasa baru sedetik hati mengeluh menyesali malang yang melanda. Semoga kurniaan ini tidak melalaikan malah lebih mematangkan diri. Kukira rezeki yang Kau kurniakan ini merupakan salah satu daripada ujianMu yang pelbagai. MUHASABAH DIRI

Perasaan... Setiap manusia punyai perasaan. Perasaan yang perlu dijaga, dibaja, dibelai agar tidak ada sekelumit amarah, agar usai segala gundah..
Hidup di dunia yang tidak keseorangan, walhal terkadang kita sering merasakan keterasingan, tidak sedar bahawa diri dikelilingi ramai insan di luar sana yang masih mengambil berat.
Pun begitu, kadangkala benak kita terfikir, mengapa si A tidak pandai jaga hati aku, si B macam pentingkan diri sendiri, si C pula suka mengarah sana sini, si D asyik menyibuk hal orang lain sampai lupa hal sendiri yang tidak terurus dan sebagainya...Namun sedarkah kita bahawasanya kadangkala apa yang kita terima merupakan apa yang kita pernah berikan kepada orang lain?
Insan sekeliling bagaikan cermin yang dapat membantu kita melihat jauh ke dalam diri. Sebelum menilai apa yang orang lain lakukan, baik yang elok mahupun yang tidak, wajar kita merefleksi apa yang pernah kita lakukan terhadap orang lain...adakah tidak pernah kita sendiri berbuat sedemikian? Sekiranya ya, maka perlulah kita hindarkan sifat-sifat yang tidak menyenangkan dan gantikan dengan perkara yang menggembirakan orang lain. Sekiranya tidak, perlulah diingat bahawa mungkin musibah itu datang sebagai ujian Allah SWT. Yakinlah...ujian Tuhan itu datang kepada mereka yang terpilih dan mampu memikulnya. Dia Maha Adil dan Maha Mengetahui.
Hari ini aku juga tidak terkecuali diuji Allah SWT lagi...Namun aku bersyukur, ujian ini didatangkan Allah SWT kerana Dia lebih Mengetahui. Walaupun jiwa masih kabur dengan dugaan ini, aku yakin...suatu masa nanti aku akan mengerti ujianMu ini...Dan sehingga tiba detik itu, Kau kuatkanlah dan tabahkanlah hatiku menempuhnya ya Allah...

FOR THE PASSION OF TEACHING

It's been the seventh year...I'm still here, in this teaching field and I always wonder, what should I do to instill the love of teaching?

I'm sure my teacher friends can imagine this situation. Or maybe you're now experiencing this: It is one hot, dusty and boring afternoon in the staffroom. The sun is shining mercilessly out there, yet the air-conditioner is not working, there we are, sitting down marking a mountain of unending exercise books. There are heaps of work to be done. Pay day is a week away and the thought of going to the last class of naughty students to teach in the last period is simply unexciting.

Sometimes this feeling comes to us, as I believe we are just human, somehow or rather, this is what we do feel sometimes. What do we do in such a situation? What if retirement is 27 years away? Imagine day after day of complete boredom.

The answer friends, is to love our teaching profession. Here I would like to list down ways to instill the love of teaching:

1) Make sure that we stay motivated at all times. It is true that every teacher experiences periods of low motivation at certain times. However, there are certain steps to be taken in order to stay motivated. For instance, getting more actively involved with “school life” and with the students. We should take the responsibility of maintaining our own motivation.

2) Generate the enthusiasm in teaching. There is a lot of difference between a passionate teacher and a boring teacher. Teacher's enthusiasm is generally associated with positive effects in the classroom. Therefore, our enthusiasm will create more positive students which in turn will take away the tediousness of teaching.

3) Team work and positive peer relationship. I feel encouraged when working with a particularly highly motivated and enthusiastic group of colleagues in school.

4) Create a conducive classroom climate. Classroom climate can be defined as the mood or atmosphere created by a teacher in his or her classroom, the way the teacher interacts with students, and the way the physical environment is set out – whether the classroom is comfortable or not. There must be elements of caring, trust and respect in the interpersonal relationships between teachers and students.

5)Learn to connect with people and become a better communicator. Most teachers report of a simple, unselfish joy when they connect emotionally or spiritually with others.

6) Bridge the gap between our students and us. It’s difficult sometimes to relate to people, especially children and teenagers, but I believe that excellent teachers are masters of this. Be a remarkable teacher...

Friends... if at one time you find yourself sacrificing your time, money, and resources for your students, then I assure you that everything is worth it as they are all for the love of teaching. If you already have your own family, somehow you feel like you're neglecting your own children. But friends, I assure you, believe me...There's someone out there who'll treat your children equally as what you have done to other people's children... Allah knows best.

REMINISCENCE OF A TEACHER…

I really don’t know how to start as this is my first day blogging.. I just type this freely according to my thought and feeling right now (Well, that’s how journal writing should be…) Today in school, we had a 2 hours course on 'Dealing with Discipline Cases'. Quite shocked to hear about the presented cases. As the speaker was presenting and explaining, I remembered this sentences. Sentence which is quite cliche to us..."Cikgu... ajarlah anak saya ni..rotan lah...asalkan jangan patah, jangan cacat, sudahlah..." Sounds familiar, right?

Those were the days my friends.. As we can see nowadays, there are cases about students being rebellious, students ignoring teachers' advice, students left the books at home, students submitted incomplete exercises, students shouted in front of teachers' faces, and even worse.. students trying to burn teachers' car... And worse comes to worst when parents suing teachers for acting this and that...

These show that the teaching profession is no longer seen as it used to be. How can this happen to us, teachers? Well, I do agree with the speaker today. We need to enhance our performance, being professional, know our business well, improve ourselves, so that they (the people out there) will not simply do whatever they want to do.

Students nowadays...they are our products. How I wish they can manage their time wisely. Looking at them chit chatting and laughing as if this world is theirs, munching bubble gums during class hour without realising that is not a proper attitude, screaming loudly at their friends’ very ears… I feel like giving them a tight slap...But then again, it is us teachers who should be responsible for their attitude.

And teachers...Whatever happens, just hold your head up, and keep your fists down... we are too intelligent to dip ourselves in the mud full of hatred...
